Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers to run the store. Depending on the transaction and features you use, these may include website and hosting providers, WooCommerce and related ecommerce services, payment processors such as PayPal, shipping carriers and fulfilment services, email providers, analytics providers and security or fraud-prevention services.
We provide service providers only the information reasonably needed for their role. Some providers may process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our legal rights, to investigate fraud or security incidents, or as part of a business transaction such as a sale or reorganization, subject to applicable legal requirements.
Cookies and analytics
The website uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for functions such as the shopping cart, checkout, account login and security. We may also use analytics technologies to understand how visitors use the site and improve performance. Browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies, but disabling necessary cookies can prevent parts of the store from working correctly.
Email marketing
Promotional email signup is optional and separate from placing an order. Where required, we ask for consent before sending commercial electronic messages. Marketing emails identify Bonafide Butter and include a way to unsubscribe. Transactional messages about an order or customer-service request are sent as needed to provide the service you requested.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including order fulfilment, customer support, tax and accounting obligations, fraud prevention and legal requirements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of record and why it is needed.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle. No website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Your choices and access rights
You may contact us to ask about personal information we hold about you, request access or correction, withdraw marketing consent, or raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may retain information where required or permitted by law.
Children
Our store is intended for customers who can legally enter into a purchase transaction. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children for marketing purposes.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, technology or legal obligations change. We will post the current version on this page and update the effective date when appropriate.
